Course Description:

This course introduces the participants to the essentials on the underlying principles related to electrical installations. It provides the participants with the underpinning knowledge and essential skills to handling electrical installations, safe working practices, the use of statutory and non-statutory legislations, testing of electrical installations, interpretation of drawings and specifications, cabling and equipment use.



There are five learning outcomes to this course:

  1. Understand electrical installation wiring regulations.
  2. Understand safe working practices, environment considerations, common protection systems and good housekeeping.
  3. Apply essential tests on a typical electrical installation.
  4. Select cables, enclosures and devices in a typical installation.
  5. Interpret simple lighting and power circuit diagrams.

Course Description:

This course provides learners with a range of competencies in the installation, maintenance, decommissioning and soundness testing technique in a range of cold and hot water system/component types in dwellings and industrial/ commercial properties (of similar size and scope to domestic dwellings). The course also provides an introduction to the range of work activities carried out in plumbing as well as methods of checking that pipework and plumbing components are leak free. The unit covers systems in buildings up to 3 stories in height with pipework up to 28mm diameter. The scope of the system is from the boundary stop valve into the property feeding the water outlets.



There are four learning outcomes to this course:

  1. Understand and carry out safe working practices in construction industry
  2. Understand and carry out site preparation, and pipework fabrication techniques for dwelling plumbing
  3. Understand and apply domestic cold and hot water system installation and maintenance techniques
  4. Install and maintain domestic cold and hot water plumbing systems

  3. Detect defects on a typical electrical installation by essential tests.
  4. Select cables, enclosures, and devices in a typical installation.
  5. Design of simple lighting and power circuit diagrams.
